In our cardiology department, our specialists treat a wide range of heart diseases. Supported by the latest technical equipment, we can offer you an individually tailored treatment. Supported by the latest technical equipment, we can offer you an individually tailored treatment.

Range of treatments

Range of treatments

• Electrophysiology with therapy for supraventricular arrhythmias including cryoablation
• Atrial occluder implantation for atrial fibrillation
• Occluder closure of atrial septal defects

Non-invasive methods such as e.g.:

• Echocardiography, transesophagial echocardiography, stress echocardiography,
• CT coronary angiography and cardio MR

Physical diagnostics – The individual risk for the occurrence of serious cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and heart attack can be assessed by special examinations. The extent of existing vascular changes and changes in cardiac output and heart valve function can also be recorded.

Diabetes (diabetes mellitus) can be diagnosed in the early stages, long before consequential damage has occurred.
Various malignant diseases can be effectively treated and cured through early detection. Deficiencies and imbalances in the areas of nutrition, hormones, vitamins and trace elements can be measured and, if necessary, compensated.

Methods – Appropriate research methods are:

⦁ Detailed medical consultation and physical examination to record known risks and directly recognizable illnesses

⦁ ECG and stress ECG (Electric current curves of the heart at rest and under stress)

⦁ Laboratory tests: Blood cells, kidney values, liver values, pancreas, lipids with cholesterol and subfractions, triglycerides, lipoprotein A, hormones, vitamins, trace elements, tumor markers and much more.

⦁ Ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries (duplex sonography) to assess changes (paques, narrowing) that can lead to a stroke

⦁ Ultrasound examination of the heart (echocardiography)
Among other things, to assess the pumping function of the heart (assessment of heart failure and heart attacks), the function of the four heart valves and the ability of the heart to relax

⦁ Ultrasound examination of the leg arteries
for assessing calcium and cholesterol deposits as an expression of general vascular diseases and preliminary stages of circulatory disorders in the legs

⦁ Ultrasound examination of the heart under stress
(stress echocardiography) for the assessment of circulatory disorders of the heart

⦁ Holter ECG for the diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias and preliminary stages of strokes (atrial fibrillation)

⦁ Long-term blood pressure measurement as the gold standard for assessing blood pressure, including nocturnal blood pressure readings

⦁ Lung function test to assess narrowing of the airways and the ability of the lungs to expand

⦁ Thyroid Ultrasound for recording enlargements, knots and other changes

⦁ Bio-impedance measurement to assess the body’s compound systems

⦁ ENutritional Screening for recording the components of nutrient intake

⦁ Ultrasound examination of the abdomen to detect changes in the abdominal organs and, if necessary, new growths

Individual final discussion on diagnostics

Individual final discussion on diagnostics

Together with the physician, the performed examinations are discussed in detail and the results are evaluated for the creation of an individual risk profile and the approaches for prevention of the above-mentioned diseases resulting from the examination results.

Prevention Concept

Individual final discussion on diagnostics

The individual prevention concept is drawn up together with specialists in cardiovascular diseases, diabetology, nutritional medicine, physiotherapy and other employees.
The stages of the prevention concept are discussed together and a plan for implementation is agreed. In addition to classic scientific and medical aspects, advanced approaches are also offered. The effectiveness of the prevention concept can be tracked together over the long term through personal discussions and online consultations.

At the Glückstadt Hospital we see people holistically in their unity of body, mind and soul. The risk of serious illnesses such as a stroke, heart attack, diabetes and, for example, colon cancer can be effectively reduced by preventive measures (prevention). Overloading of the body and psyche that causes illness can be counteracted by taking appropriate measures.
