Lipolysis
Lipolysis treatment is a cosmetic procedure that aims to specifically break down unwanted fat deposits in the body. It is often referred to as a “fat removal injection” and is considered a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Lipolysis involves injecting a special solution directly into adipose tissue to dissolve fat cells, which are then broken down naturally by the body.
Treatment procedure
Treatment procedure
During the treatment, an injection solution is introduced into the fatty tissue. These substances dissolve the cell membrane of the fat cells, releasing the fat and then transporting it away through the metabolism. The treatment is usually carried out on an outpatient basis and each session lasts around 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated.”
Treatment areas
Treatment areas
Lipolysis is particularly suitable for small accumulations of fat that hardly respond to diets or exercise. Typical treatment areas are:
Double chin/chin line
Stomach
Hips
Thighs
Upper arms
However, it is not intended for large or thick fat deposits, such as those removed with classic liposuction.
Results
The results of lipolysis treatment usually become apparent after a few weeks, as the body needs time to process and remove the dissolved fat cells. Often several sessions are necessary to achieve the desired result.
Side effects
Side effects
Although lipolysis is generally considered safe, side effects can still occur. These include:
Redness and swelling in the treated area
Bruises
Mild pain or burning
Rare: bumps in the skin or inflammation
Conclusion
Lipolysis treatment is an effective method for reducing small deposits of fat in a targeted manner. It is particularly suitable for people who cannot get rid of certain fat deposits despite a healthy diet and regular exercise. However, the treatment requires patience, as the results are not immediately visible but develop over weeks.

In order to work as a doctor in this field in Germany, you must complete training as a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery.
Career
After completing his medical studies at the University of Kiel, Dr. Bönke initially worked there and completed basic surgical training in cardiac and vascular surgery at the Schleswig-Holstein University Hospital in Kiel. In 2015, he then switched to the clinic for plastic and hand surgery with a center for severe burns at the St. Georg Hospital in Leipzig. In 2017 he followed Prof. Dragu to the University Hospital in Dresden, where he played a key role in founding the Department of Plastic and Hand Surgery, where he most recently worked as senior physician. Since 2023 Dr. Bönke leads together with Prof. Dr. Said the Institute for Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Glückstadt Hospital.
Since 2015 Dr. Bönke works exclusively in plastic and aesthetic surgery. In addition to the reconstruction and restoration of the body shape using free tissue transfer and hand surgery, he specialized in body shaping and tightening operations after weight loss.
Dr. Bönke is a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and a member of the German Society for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (DGPRÄC). He also has an additional qualification in hand surgery.
